Although limited by the time constraints of being a tenure-track professor, I continue to pursue a select set of professional activities outside my faculty work.
I am a Contributing Writer for Design News Magazine, where I maintain an alternative energy blog with several posts per week covering the latest news, events, and technologies in renewable power.
Under the moniker Hybryd Technologies I perform Web site and Internet consulting and development. In this capacity I created and maintained a site for the UC Irvine Engineering Alumni Society (now the Engineering Alumni Advisory Council) for several years, and I have also created personal sites for other individuals.
Finally, Hybryd Technologies performs a limited amount of engineering technical consulting. Recently I consulted on solar panel utilization to partially meet the energy needs of a proposed recreation center at the Sun City Anthem retirement community in Henderson, Nevada. I also consulted for the winning team on the MIT Mars Gravity Biosatellite Design Competition, which proposed a solar-stirling generator to power an experimental satellite.
