• July 12 - 15, 2009: Dr. Traum Attends "Living With The Lab" Workshop at Louisiana Tech
• Living With The Lab (LWTL) is a unique first-year engineering training pedagogy conceived at Louisiana Tech University and sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). LWTL boosts experiential learning through student ownership of laboratory equipment, enabling hands-on learning beyond the classroom environment. Dr. Traum was among 21 participants selected to attend an intensive NSF-sponsored workshop at LA Tech where LWTL teaching approaches were taught to participants in immersive, hands-on training sessions.
• June 24, 2009: Cryogenic Rankine Cycle Paper Presented at 41st AIAA Thermophysics Conference
• Representing UNT co-authors Jack McKeathen, Dr. Sandra Boetcher, and Dr. Rick Reidy, Dr. Traum presented a research paper, "A Cryogenic Rankine Cycle for Space Power Generation," at the 41st AIAA Thermophysics Conference, in San Antonio, TX. The American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), is the world's largest professional society for aerospace engineers. Its annual Thermophysics conference commands an international draw of aerospace professionals; this year the conference included 20 sessions with over 120 papers. The cryogenic Rankine cycle paper appears in the referred conference proceedings.
• June 16, 2009: Dr. Traum Presents Research Paper at ASEE Annual Conference
• Along with co-author, Dr. Sharon Karackattu, Dr. Traum presented his research paper, "Early Exposure to Engineering Practitioners Provides Informed Choices for Students Continuing Engineering Programs," at the 116th American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) Conference in Austin, TX. This venue is ASEE's largest annual event, drawing and international audience of engineering educators and practitioners. Dr. Traum's paper appears in the refereed ASEE conference proceedings.

• December 1, 2007: Dr. Traum Among Nominees for "New Faces of Engineering" Program
• The ASHRAE New Faces program was created to promote the accomplishments of engineers aged 30 or younger by highlighting their engineering contributions and the resulting impact on public welfare. • November 15, 2007: Dr. Traum Elevated to Full Member Status in Sigma Xi
• Sigma Xi, the National Scientific Research Society was founded to honor excellence in scientific investigation and encourage cooperation among researchers in all fields of science and engineering. Membership in Sigma Xi is by invitation only. Full membership is conferred only upon those who have demonstrated noteworthy achievements in research. Only about 5,000 new members are inducted each year. In November, Dr. Traum was elevated from Associate Member to Full Member within Sigma Xi.
• October 22, 2007: Construction Begins on New TFS Laboratory
• This morning, construction crews began to renovate the space slated to become the permanent home for the TFS Group. This new, state-of-the-art facility should be completed by January and will house fume hoods, process gas lines, wet lab benches, and other amenities critical to UNT's on-going thermal-fluid sciences research.
• October 1, 2007: TFS Group Moves into Temporary Lab
• While a new state-of-the-art research laboratory facility is being constructed at the UNT Research Park to house Dr. Traum's research, the TFS Group has temporarily set up shop in another space within the College of Engineering. The move into the new, permanent laboratory space is anticipated for January 2008.
• June 29, 2007: Professor Traum Arrives at UNT, Establishes TFS Group
• After a brief stay in St. Louis, MO, Dr. Matthew J. Traum, arrived in Denton, TX on June 29 to begin his duties as a new UNT professor. Drawing upon his background in thermal fluid sciences, energy, aerospace, and nanotechnology, Prof. Traum has established his research laboratory, the Thermal Fluid Sciences Group @ UNT. Initial research within the TFS Group @ UNT will include studies of evaporative cooling using nano-pores.
• June 1, 2007: Dr. Traum Joins UNT
• Dr. Matthew J. Traum, a graduate of the mechanical engineering doctoral program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and researcher at MIT's Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies, has joined the faculty of the Mechanical and Energy Engineering (M&EE) Department at the University of North Texas (UNT). Dr. Traum's appointment to the UNT faculty commences June 1, 2007.
