Course Project
MEEN 1210 students will self-organize into teams of about 4 members, and each team will author an entry to the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) 2008 Milton F. Lunch Ethics Contest (
http://nspe.org/ethics/eh01-test.asp). These entries are due in class on April 3, 2008 to be reviewed and graded by Dr. Traum. Each team member will share the same resulting project grade. Dr. Traum’s reviews will be returned to each group in class on April 10, 2008, allowing time to incorporate this feedback into the entries. Student teams must then submit entries to NSPE before the April 18, 2008 contest deadline. The winning entry will receive an award of $1,000 ($500 to the local NSPE chapter and $500 divided among the authors who are NSPE members).

All members of a course project group that wins the NSPE 2008 Milton F. Lunch Ethics Contest will automatically receive an ‘A’ in MEEN 1210.

Midterm Project Reviews
On March 13, 2008 there will be an ethics project review from 6pm to 8pm in UNTRP B185. This review is not mandatory, but participation should substantially improve the quality of the final, graded assignments. Each participating team will be given four minutes to present a single slide outlining the team’s ethical analysis approach. Teams will then field one or two questions from the audience. At the end of the review, each participating team will receive written feedback from their peers in the audience with suggestions on how to improve the final ethical analysis.
