Department Chair
Position:
The University of North Texas (UNT) College of Engineering announces a nationwide search to recruit a Department Chair for its Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering (MEE).
Rank and Salary:
The selected candidate will be appointed at the rank of full Professor with tenure in the MEE department.
Salary will be commensurate with academic experience and accomplishments.
Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for curriculum updates, facility planning, and program implementation for both the undergraduate and M.S. programs in MEE. The department has five faculty members and an endowed PACCAR professorship position with anticipated two junior faculty lines.
We anticipate seeking approval for a doctoral program in MEE after we have attained experience with M.S. graduates. The candidate will demonstrate, seek, and promote innovation in engineering education, and research particularly in his/her specialty.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates must have an earned Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a closely related field; be a recognized scholar and educator; and have the credentials necessary to qualify for an appointment at the full professor rank at UNT.
Credentials must include a significant publication record, a strong research funding record (including federal funding agencies), academic administration experience, experience with curriculum development to meet ABET-EAC accreditation requirements, and knowledge of innovative curriculum development and implementation. Service in professional societies, including service on elected boards, editorial boards of journals, and program committees or international conferences, is very
desirable.
