PACCAR Technology Institute
| In 2006 our university received a $1.5 million donation to benefit research and teaching in the College of Engineering. About $1 million of the gift created permanent endowments to establish the PACCAR Technology Institute at the UNT Discovery Park and allow us to further our multidisciplinary research at the institute, where UNT furnishes state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms. The remainder of the donation enabled UNT to endow the PACCAR Professorship for a full-time, tenured engineering professor. These amazing strides would not be possible without the generous gift from PACCAR Inc., a multinational transportation and technology company based in Bellevue, Wash., and the parent company of Denton-based Peterbilt Motors Company. We are excited about this collaboration with a company that has a significant impact on the development of transportation solutions and technologies. |

President Bataille and PACCAR Vice President and Peterbilt Motors Company General Manager Dan Sobic (seated) sign an agreement that brought a PACCAR Foundation gift of $1.5 million to benefit research and teaching in the UNT College of Engineering. Other signers (standing) are Founding Dean of the College of Engineering Oscar Garcia, former UNT Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Howard Johnson and Chairman of the Board of the UNT Foundation R.L. Crawford. The partnership creates permanent endowments to establish the PACCAR Technology Institute at UNT Discovery Park and the PACCAR Professorship in Engineering.
